To get started quickly and ensure a smooth setup, here’s what we need from you:
Watch our short video guide or scroll past it to follow the written guide below.
1. WordPress Admin Access
Create a user on your website with the following details:
- Email: [email protected]
- Username: [email protected]
- Role: Administrator
Once created, an invitation will automatically be sent to us, so you don’t need to notify us separately.
🔒 Security Tip: After the setup is complete and confirmed, we recommend that you delete this temporary user from your WordPress admin panel to maintain site security.
2. Cloudflare Access
If You Already Have a Cloudflare Account:
- Log in to Cloudflare and go to Manage Account > Members > Invite
- Invite: [email protected]
- Role: Super Administrator – All Privileges
If You Don’t Have a Cloudflare Account:
- Let us know the email address you’d like to use
- We’ll create the account for you and configure everything needed
3. Advertising Platforms You Want to Track
We support server-side tracking for:
- Google Analytics (GA4)
- Google Ads
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram)
- Bing Ads
- Tiktok
To proceed, please:
- Fill out your relevant Tracking IDs and Tokens
- Provide any conversion labels you want to track (e.g., purchases, add to cart, newsletter signup)
You can find all instructions in our guide: 👉 How to find your tracking IDs
Or fill in and return this sheet: 📄 Download Setup Sheet
4. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Access
During the final phase of setup, we will require access to your GA4 property to test and verify that the correct tracking events are being sent and received.
This step ensures your setup is not only technically complete but also fully functional and optimized for your reporting and advertising needs.
You will be guided through how to provide this access securely when the time comes.
5. (Optional) Conversion Labels for Google Ads
To keep things simple and effective in Google Ads, we suggest only adding conversion labels for the events you actually plan to use. That gives you the cleanest overview. While Beetle Tracking supports all major events, adding everything tends to overcomplicate things unless you have a specific campaign strategy in mind.
If you’re not sure which event to create goals and conversion labels for in Google Ads, we recommend starting with:
- Order Completed
- Checkout Started
- Product Added (Add to Cart)
- Form Submissions (e.g. contact or newsletter forms)
If you already know the conversion events you’d like to use, just send us a list — or let us know and we’ll review your site and suggest the most relevant ones.
- Order Completed
- Checkout Started
- Product Added (Add to Cart)
- Product Removed (Remove from Cart)
- Product Page Viewed
- Product List Viewed (Category Pages)
- Form Submissions
- User Signups
- User Logins
- File Downloads
- Comments
- Time on Page
- Search Queries
- Page Scroll
- Email Link Clicks
- Phone Link Clicks
6. Remove Duplicate Trackers (Optional But Recommended)
To ensure your data is accurate and that Beetle Tracking works as intended, we recommend removing any existing tracking scripts or plugins that might overlap or conflict with it.
Examples include:
- Facebook for WooCommerce (adds its own pixel)
- Google Site Kit (injects GA/Ads scripts client-side)
- Product feed plugins that bundle tracking code
Leaving these active can result in duplicate data, which may confuse your ad platforms and skew your reports. For example, a conversion could be counted twice — once by Beetle Tracking and again by an old pixel still on the page.
We’re happy to help review and advise on what should be removed during the setup to keep things clean and reliable.
7. Ready, Set, Go!
Once we have the above, we’ll:
- Set up the plugin
- Configure all requested tracking integrations
- Set up Cloudflare for server-side tracking
- Verify that everything is firing correctly
If you have any questions during the process, just reach out. We’re here to help 😊
