How to create Conversion Actions and Conversion Labels in Google Ads

To connect Beetle Tracking with your Google Ads account, you only need your Google Ads Conversion ID.
This is enough to send standard conversion data through Cloudflare Zaraz.

However, to unlock the full benefits of enhanced conversions — including more detailed reporting and smarter bidding optimization — we highly recommend setting up Conversion Actions and Conversion Labels for key events like purchases, checkout starts, and add-to-cart actions.

Step-by-step guide

1. Get your Google Ads Conversion ID (Required)

  1. Log in to your Google Ads account.
  2. Go to Goals → Conversions Summary.
  3. Click any existing conversion action or create a new one.
  4. Under Tag Setup, you’ll see your Conversion ID

Conversion ID format: AW-123456789

👉 Add this Conversion ID to your site under:
Beetle TrackingPlatformsGoogle Ads

OBS. Add only the NUMBERS from the Conversion ID in Beetle Tracking, DO NOT add “AW-” in Beetle Tracking.

This connects Beetle Tracking with your Google Ads account and allows events to be sent automatically.

2. Create Conversion Actions and Labels (Optional but Recommended)

To use enhanced conversions, you should create dedicated conversion actions in Google Ads for each event you want to track more precisely.

Go to Goals → Conversions Summary

3. Create Conversion Action

4. Select Conversion Category / Type

  1. Select Category for your conversion (e.g. Purchase, Begin Checkout, Add to Cart)
  2. Fill in basic settings like:
    • Conversion name (recommendation: prefix with BT-, e.g. BT – Order Completed)
    • Value → Use default or dynamic value
    • Count → “Every” for sales, “One” for leads
  3. Click Create and Continue

5. Select Conversion Category / Type

  1. Under Tag Setup, select Install the tag yourself
  2. Click Details and Use Google Tag Manger

You’ll now see something like:
AW-123456789 / AbCdEfGhIjKlMnOpQr

Global Google Ads Conversion ID / Conversion Label

Copy ONLY that last part “AbCdEfGhIjKlMnOpQr“, which is your actual Conversion Label.

6. Add the Conversion Labels in Beetle Tracking

  1. Login to your WordPress dashbord
  2. Navigate to Beetle Tracking
  3. Go to Events or E-commerceGoogle Ads
  4. Here you insert the above created and copied Conversion Label into the input field for the matching event.
    (etc. Order Completed, Checkout Started, Product Added)

7. Save Settings and Push to Cloudflare Zaraz

When ever you make a change, always remember to Save changes and Push settings to Cloudflare

No — Beetle Tracking works as soon as you add your Google Ads Conversion ID.

However, adding Conversion Actions and Labels unlocks enhanced conversions, providing more detailed insights and better Google Ads optimization.

Enhanced conversions allow Google Ads to match your conversions more accurately by sending hashed customer data (like email or phone) along with each event.

This improves attribution and bidding accuracy, especially after privacy changes like cookie restrictions.

Conversion ID → Beetle Tracking → Platforms → Google Ads

Conversion Labels → Beetle Tracking → E-commerce → Google Ads for each event

Conversions usually start appearing within 24–48 hours after setup.

If you’ve just created new conversion actions or labels, Google Ads may take a little time to sync them.
